We believe Jesus provided the perfect model of a sacrificial servant with practical expressions of service. We believe we are called to be Jesus to those around us and to engage in hands-on service in our local community and mission around the world.

 

From our very beginning Journey has engaged in mission through hands-on service and by partnering in meaningful ways with groups and organizations that are doing great work in our community and around the world.  Each year we give away 10% of our income to “Our Churches’ Wider Mission” – a world-wide effort of the United Church of Christ.  We give an additional 5% of our budget to local organizations.  But it doesn’t stop there!  We also have a “Collection of the Month” – our way of giving tangible gifts to our community; it may be food for a Thanksgiving dinner, pet supplies for people with HIV or AIDS, personal care items for the guests of the homeless shelter or school supplies for children.  And last, but certainly not least, is our hands-on service – when we get down and dirty, put on our work boots and our gloves and give time and energy!
