Book Group for Women
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
Leader: Leanne KingA deeply evocative story of ambition and betrayal, The Paris Wife captures the love affair between two unforgettable people: Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley.
Chicago, 1920: Hadley Richardson is a quiet twenty-eight-year-old who has all but given up on love and happiness—until she meets Ernest Hemingway. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Paris, where they become the golden couple in a lively and volatile group—the fabled “Lost Generation”—that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Lenten Study Group
During the season of Lent, we'll be gatheringevening for reading and reflection. We'll be sharing the book "Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time" by Marcus Borg.
In Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, Marcus Borg addresses the yearnings of those who want a fully contemporary faith that welcomes rather than oppresses our critical intelligence and openness to the best of historical scholarship. Borg shows how a rigorous examination of historical findings can lead to a new faith in Christ, one that is critical and, at the same time, sustaining.
You can order the book for your nook or kindle, purchase it at bookstore or borrow it from your local library. Attend one or all sessions.
